About This Position
TNO has taken over the former wells testing facilities from Shell. With the worldwide unique combination of testing equipment TNO is resurrecting a state of the art research centre with focus on renewable heat (geo thermal energy) and heat storage in the Dutch sub surface. Are you curious, independent, pragmatic and enthusiastic to work in a energetic team, creating the foundation for the future renewable heat demand, then the TNO Rijswijk Centre for Sustainable Geo Energy (RCSG) has a challenge for you.
What will be your role?
Materials play a crucial role in the sustainable geo energy applications. In most cases the subsurface constructions are exposed to hot salty water which influences the lifetime of these components significantly. To protect the subsurface well construction (steel tubes) a composite repair patch, extrude out of re-used / recycled waste material could be used as anti-corrosion layer.
TNO offers an interim position for the design of and experimental validation of composite repair patch. Part of the work is a functional design of the patch, reaching out to waste suppliers, material testing and large scale experimental testing with help of TNO-test engineers.
