McKinsey: Net-Zero Europe
On the 6th of May at 12:45 pm the TU Delft Energy Club organises an interesting lunch lecture with none other than McKinsey & Company. Godart van Gendt, a senior expert at McKinsey, will present a report on how the European Union can achieve net-zero emissions at net-zero costs. The decarbonization pathways to a net-zero Europe are countless, but not all are cost-optimal. McKinsey explores one pathway that could reduce the EU's emissions by 55% by 2030 while delivering broad economic benefits. Guidehouse Lunch Lecture
The 29th of April at 12:45 Guidehouse will give a lunch lecture about a consulting career in energy and sustainability. Three subtopics will be discussed: The transformation from TU Delft student to Guidehouse consultant, the career development of a consultant at Guidehouse and a Guidehouse project overview will be given.
Geothermal Energy Event
The Energy Club will be hosting together with professor David Bruhn a presentation on geothermal energy, its history and potential for the future. Professor Bruhn has many years of experience in the industry and as a researcher. In this event he will also talk about his own research so attending students can get insight about opportunities in this growing field.
Solar Integration for the Automobile Idustry
Join the Energy Club together with Sono Motors on a lecture about solar energy integration for electric vehicles. The presentation will be given by Mathieu Baudrit, who has over 20 years of experience in the field. Register by the link below or the QR code in the poster. See you all there!
Gasunie Hydrogen Debate
TU Delft Energy Club will be co-hosting a new event together with Gasunie, a leader in natural gas infrastructure and transportation in The Netherlands. Together we will be debating the use of hydrogen as an important source of energy, and the challenges and effects that will come in making this transition. Join us, together with a team of professionals from Gasunie to learn more about the present and future of hydrogen as an energy source. GIGA Storage
TU Delft Energy Club is proud to announce an upcoming online event with GIGA Storage. GIGA Storage aims to become the market leader in sustainable energy storage in Europe, in order to be able to fully utilise sustainably generated energy. Our host will be the company's CEO, Ruud Nijs, who will lecture on the workings of the economics of energy storage AI-based optimisations. TU Delft alumni will be there to tell them what they work on at GIGA storage. During the event also internship opportunities might come up.

EU Green Deal: Diederik Samsom & Scale-Ups
The EU Green Deal is often in the news, and on Friday 11 December, we hosted an online symposium with none other than Diederik Samsom, the head of Frans Timmermans’ cabinet at the European Commission. He addressed the role of startups and scale-ups in the implementation of the European Green Deal, a far-reaching plan for a more sustainable EU.
We also invited 3 founders or CEO’s of technology scale-ups which are trying to accelerate the energy transition in order to be able to realize the Green Deal. This event was moderated by a senior advisor of New Energy of EBN, who has many years of experience in the changing energy field in the Netherlands and the changing energy networks.

Offshore Wind Energy by Enero
in 2030, 40% of the electricity supply will come from offshore wind turbines and Eneco is already contributing to this. How do they contribute and what does the future hold for the development? The Future of Mobility - Symposium
At the Energy Club we hosted past 20th of November a Symposium about the Future of Mobility. In the first session, Delft Hyperloop, Forze, Eco-Runner Team Delft and Vattenfall Solar Team discussed about how they envision the future of transportation and their challenges. In the 2nd half, StedIn, Lightyear and Prof. Parov Bauer from TU Delft, had an entertaining talk on current state of the system and future technologies. Check these discussions by clicking here
Day of Sustainability 2020
On the Day of Sustainability 2020 which was organized in collaboration with several other student organizations, we had many lectures and interactive workshops despite the digital format. One of these is the En-ROADS climate simulation workshop, in which Bas Tuenter guided the session with insights into various climate and energy policies.
The Dutch WindWheel
Past 6th of October, we hosted this online lecture about an unconventional sustainable building project in Rotterdam that integrates various renewable energy technologies as well as water filtering and smart building features. Watch the lecture recording here
Flying-V Lunch Lecture
You may have come across the Flying-V in the news lately. On 22 September 2020, we had none other than Dr Roelof Vos, the project leader, give an insightful talk about the design of this innovative plane concept. Energy Transition Game
Friday, 22.11.19, we had one of the most dynamic masterclasses/games of the year. We engaged, with a group of 12 students and 10 industry officials in the Energy Transition Game, standing in shoes of different roles and participating in the dynamic workshop. This was a huge success and a worthwhile investment, thanks to the moderators of the Center for Solutions from Poland and the industry guests, besides our amazing participants. European Utility Week and IEA visit - Paris
On 13-15 November, 2019, we visited the European Utility Week and the headquarters of the IEA in Paris, with 15 enthusiastic students/graduates from the TU Delft. Together we got to see the bigger picture of the energy market, network with companies and professionals, developed ourselves for the future and took part in some of the most amazing sessions both in the expo and in the IEA.
The Great Energy Debate
in collaboration with Shell, TU Delft and Delft Energy Initiative we hosted the Great Energy Debate. With more than 200 people present in the audience and more than 1 million audience following the live streams in Imperial College London, Twitter and other social media, our panelists took their individual stances regarding some of the most heated topics of energy transition.
Excursion to Groningen- RWE Facility
On 10th and 11th of October, we organised an excursion to the Northernmost province, Groningen. We visited the RWE hard coal power plant and experienced the transition to biomass first hand. The interaction here gave us valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities. We also visited the Energy Academy Europe and EnTranCe and witnessed the work done here for the future.
With this amazing group of people, the excursion was truly an enjoyable one.
Money Talks: Episode 2- Carbon Capture & Utilization by BLOC B.V
On 26 September 2019, Petrus Postma, founding partner at BLOC graced the IDE Arena of TU Delft to provide his insights about the Carbon Capture and Utilization in the field of Energy Transition. This fell into our second episode of MoneyTalks whereby he introduced the industry and companies working in the field of CO2 capture and engaged in an interactive discussion with the attendees.

Tech Bites: KLM Vision on Sustainability
On 13 June 2019, Guido van Burgeler, Flight Tactical Analyst and Eimerd Bult, Captain and Vice President of Operations from KLM Royal Dutch Airline opened up the first episode of Techbites, hosting an informative lecture on the fuel consumption, sustainable prospects and technical aspects of energy transition in the aviation industry. This day proved to be pretty insightful for aircraft and energy enthusiasts.
Money Talks: Anton Rosier - CEO of Carver
On 12 June 2019, a beautiful vehicle entered the premises of Faculty EWI, with promises for a more energy friendly and smart future. The CEO of Carver gave us a fresh take on urban mobility. This bike-car is engineered to travel faster, easier and more comfortable than ever before, and that too in an environment-conscious way.
All Energy Day 2019
The All Energy Day 2019 took place on the 16th May in the Fokker Terminal, The Hague, creating a platform for sharing interdisciplinary knowledge dedicated to various forms of sustainable energy. Students, young professionals, companies and the municipalities all over Europe, from distinguished backgrounds, congregated together to address and hack the challenges posed towards the renewable energy industry of today and tomorrow. Several workshops, pitch competition, College Tour and an exhibition floor for the different energy- related organizations were organized during the day. Chad Frischmann, Vice- President of Project Drawdown, served as the keynote speaker of the event.
YES Europe Conference 2019
The Yes! Europe Conference 2019 took place in the Netherlands this year. This three day conference was hosted in collaboration with the TU Delft Energy Club, with the All Energy Day as the opening day of the event. This conference aimed to strengthen the community of energy- enthusiasts, students and industry stakeholders, allowing a platform for academia, start-ups and established industries to come together and flourish. With 60 attendees from 15 countries, the event offered a balanced mixture of networking sessions, informative talks by leading experts, panel discussions, simulation games, tours around the city and much more.

Meet The Energy Leaders: Dr. Fatih Birol
“The Future of Global Energy Markets: Implications for Security, Sustainability and Economic Growth”
Dr Fatih Birol has served as Executive Director of the IEA since September 2015. He was re-elected in January 2018 for a second four-year term, which will begin in September 2019. Under his leadership, the IEA has undertaken its first comprehensive modernisation programme since its creation in 1974.

PowerPlay: Epsidoe I- Dr. Doug Arent
On 20 February 2019, we hosted our very first event of the year- the inaugurating episode of the series of PowerPlay. The speaker for the event was Dr. Doug Arent, the Deputy Associate Lab Director, Scientific Computing and Energy Analysis of NREL. The lunch lecture hosted a houseful of attendees from all years of study, and professionals enthusiastic in learning more about the US Energy market and the ongoing research at NREL in the field of energy transition.
The Rotterdam Case Study
As a follow up on the The Hague Case Study during the Smart City Symposium in May 2018, the Energy Club presented The Rotterdam Case Study in cooperation with the municipality of Rotterdam. This case study considered the transition from a natural gas based heating system towards heating system with more sustainable sources. Both technological and social aspects of this socio-technical challenge were addressed for the case study of Overschie.
Solar Makers' Workshop
On the 23rd of November 2018, in the highly equipped PV Laboratory in EWI, the TU Delft Energy Club organized a PV Makers’ Workshop. The workshop was possible thanks to the technical skills, the kind availability and motivation of Professor, researchers and PhD students of the PVMD group (Photo Voltaic Materials & Devices research group) of TU Delft.
Northpool Trading Game
In the Northpool power trading workshop, we showed what it is like to be a trader on the intraday power market. Following a short introduction to power trading and all its relevant aspects, a simulation started where teams of students competed against each other to find out if they have what it takes to be successful traders!
Day of Sustainability Symposium
In cooperation with 6 other sustainable student initiatives from the TU Delft we organised the Day of Sustainability symposium. Energy Club arranged an inspiring, interactive Energy workshop together with EBN. Thank you for participating! Hope to see you next year!
Visit to the Sustainable Energy Week 2018
The Policy Conference is the most important European conference dedicated to sustainable energy policy issues. Sessions organised by the European Commission and energy stakeholders debate new policy developments, best practices and sustainable energy ideas, while networking events forge alliances.
A selected group of enthusiastic students went to Brussels and listened to the inspiring sessions.
Smart City Symposium
How do we design the city of our future?
The morning was filled with inspiring lectures about energy management, water management, sustainable buildings, circular economy, mobility and recycling. During the afternoon students participated in a case study of the Municipality of the Hague! The day closed with networking drinks.
All Energy Day 2018
On the 8th of May the 7th edition of the All Energy Day took place in the Fokker Terminal in The Hague. It was a huge succes, many participants enjoyed the key-note speech by Jeremy Rifkin and participated in interesting sessions with companies.

Yes Europe Madrid 2018
With a Dutch delegation of 9 students we have attended the annual YES Europe conference in Madrid. During 2 days of lectures and inspirational talks we have learned a lot about the current states in all member countries and we have met a lot of our European colleagues!
